copyright registration

copyright registration
An act required by the U.S. Copyright Office before a court action may be brought to prevent or redress infringement. As soon as a work is created and is fixed in a tangible medium of expression (e.g., writing or taping), the work automatically has federal copyright protection, but registration offers important benefits in an infringement action, including a presumption that the registered owner is the rightful owner.
